Integrated Knowledge Wheel The client needed to needed to illustrate the alignment and interchange between the oneVillage Foundation and its for-profit twin (oneVillage.biz) across six major areas (called "Pillars") as well as show how projects ("Initiatives") started by the non-profit would give rise to sustainable business(es) within a given Pillar under the for-profit entity. Joy Tang had initially envisioned a circular 'mandala' conveying the notion of outreach. Her early sketches and ideas were developed into the following multi-tiered "Integrated Knowledge Wheel" illustration, using the ICT Centers and the proposed Community Connection Portal software as central elements supporting each Pillar's efforts, which then radiate out to local towns and villages through the Initiatives of oneVillage and the associated Businesses of oneVillage.biz. The smaller graphics around the edges are icons used for each Pillar page on the OVF website.

oneVillage Family Identity Months later it was determined that the language of "saving" villages did not connote a sense of empowerment. Similarly, the name "AIDS Relief Foundation" implied that "relief from AIDS" would be the focus of the organization's energy. The organization's actual focus on leveraging information and communication technologies to bring people and groups of synergy together with the overarching belief that we are all one (that this planet really is all one big village) gave rise to the name "oneVillage" as the appropriate replacement. As of April 20, 2003, the AIDS Relief Foundation began doing business as the oneVillage Foundation and the standalone Mama Africa image was used as the logo for the associated for-profit entity oneVillage.biz. As the oneVillage Foundation (OVF) would guide the growth of oneVillage.biz as well as drive the related programs within the oneVillage Initiative, the Mama Africa image was used in combination with the oneVillage Initiative's simple "global growth from love" logo to create the OVF logo.

Relationship Map
The above map informally displays OVF's ability and groundwork for end-to-end services delivery, which will be greatly facilitated by an end-to-end information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure. The integrated tools platform proposed by OVF will enable an integrated system of social enterprises to realize its full potential. 1. Globally deliver the best health, ICT training and entrepreneurship content (along with world music and news) to large yet targeted audiences in developing nations, leveraging our broadcast satellite ecoPartner (World Space). 2. Globally connect experts (e.g., Silicon Valley industry, natural building movement, restorative agriculture) with those eager to learn through a satellite video conferencing service via World Bank ecoPartnership leveraging their Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) with 59 nodes worldwide. 3. Connect these regional centers to relay villages and then rural villages using WiFi implementation from Jhai Foundation. [Brief description: solid-state computer running Linux OS in a weather-sealed container; bicycle-powered generator; deep-cell battery; 802.11b wireless using 2 foot by 3 foot parabolic antennas with a 20-mile range] 4. Vivato WiFi switching products, and Captive Column antennas. 5. Connect people in the developing countries to each other and the world in the Unity Center using the oneVillage Community Connection Portal, which includes the oneVoice Storysharing Environment. [Create a global open source development cooperative to empower programmers to create a consistent, powerful IT paradigm and to do customization and maintenance within it.] 6. Renewable energy sources managed by intelligent energy delivery systems. 7. Ruggedized wireless computing solutions for Transformation Agents and evoTravelers. 8. oneVoice (with a focus on profile building via story-telling, and matching people and their interests based on the profiles as well as specific requests), powered by the GeoInsight location-based platform, is the ultimate communications platform for Unity and social enterprises. It also has capabilities to support specific roles, such as evoTravelers and Transformation Agents. 9. oneVillage.tv could become an on-demand web 'television' network of world-changers traveling around the planet in service for the greatest good. Mobile connected teams continually encounter an array of challenges along their 'discover and assist' missions. Find, follow and support local and international individuals or teams of like-minded people and earn chances to travel the world with them. Tune into/follow specific Transformation Agents & evoTravelers on their journeys. 10. Applications to make bio-intensive agriculture, permaculture, R&D, farm management, food cooperatives, etc. easy and efficient to manage. For example, a farmer would be able to take a snapshot of a problematic plant, shoot the picture off to the UNFAO database for recognition, and receive an answer or solution. The system will ultimately support personal profile-specific deal-finding and purchase recommendations (purchase the right food based on your health profile diagnosis / treatment / management results). |
